THE late Dennis Lawson Evans, who died in November 2016, was inaugurated as Lay Reader at St. George's, Woolhope in 1971. Widely known and respected well beyond the Fownhope Benefice of churches, Dennis was a much-loved figure within the community.
On April 22 the Hereford Cathedral choir sang Choral Evensong at Woolhope, which presented an opportunity for the dedication of a new hymn-board with an inscription in memory of Dennis.
Pictured after the service are (centre) Dennis's sister Pearl Bowring, his brother-in-law and long-serving organist at St George's, Denys Bowring, and Rev Chris Moore, who conducted the service.
