THE community hall at Dolau was full for the talk and demonstration given by Doug Lumley on cheese making.
He recruited two assistants to work alongside him as he showed how to make a soft cheese roulade in 90 minutes.
While the cheeses were draining Doug told members about the history of cheese making and what had been discovered about local cheese making in the past. He explained how he became the Weekend Artisan making cheeses and teaching others, answering many questions long the way.
He had brought along examples of equipment as well as a range of hard and fancy cheese he had made beforehand.
Once the soft cheese was ready it was made into parma ham or smoked salmon roulades.
Doug is the husband of Dolau WI president Jan Lumley who had made some Moroccan bread to go along with the cheeses, and members were invited to come and eat up the array of cheeses Doug had made.
Fortunately members had all brought along bottles of wine to go along with the cheese. Needless to say a good time was had by all - its not just The Archers that can have cheese making!
