A MURDER mystery night, a first for Aymestrey, was held jointly in aid of Aymestrey and Leinthall Earls Churches and Aymestrey Parish Hall and was a fabulous success.

Guests arriving at Aymestrey Parish Hall to take part in the Murder Mystery evening were amazed to see the hall totally transformed into a Baronial Hall, complete with roaring fire, family portraits on the walls, armour and a grandfather clock in the corner, the ancestral home of the fictional recently murdered Lord Mortimer who had been attacked with a candlestick earlier in the evening down by the River Lugg.

From then, throughout the evening a cast of various characters who had gathered at Aymestrey Hall were questioned about their activities and alibis, their connection with Lord Mortimer in an effort to find out who dunnit!

Guests enjoyed a four course meal, and in between each course were led by the narrator through the plot, and the clues and evidence were summed up, until at the end of the evening each of the tables had to decide which of the suspects was the guilty party. All the guests entered into the entertainment, "oohing", and gasping in horror as shocking facts were revealed.

Congratulations must go to each of the cast members, who fully entered in to the spirit of the event, making the evening such a success.

Thank you to everyone who helped; to all the cast, to everyone who supplied the delicious four course meal, to Ken Holland and Pat Allport for transforming Aymestrey Parish Hall and to everyone who supplied props, to the barman, and last, but by no means least, to everyone in the kitchen who worked so hard and missed a lot of the fun.
