SISTERS Georgia and Angelina Gill, are both celebrating after winning awards at this year’s Hereford County Drama Festival.

Georgia (aged 19) won the best actress award for her portrayal of Judy in Catherine Crosswell’s original play, 25p Man and Angelina (aged 11) accepted the Best Youth Team trophy on behalf of Ledbury Youth Theatre’s production of Let Loose.

This topped a hugely successful run for Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) in this year’s festival, after entering three plays for the youth category and two plays for the adult categories, as well as hosting the event over three days at Ledbury’s Market Theatre.

Other accolades went to LAD’s 25p Man, which won first place overall and also picked up trophies for Best Original Play and Best Producer for Catherine Croswell.

Ledbury Youth Theatre’s Let Loose also won the Novice Award whilst another LADs entry, Funeral Tea, directed by Hamish Elwood, came third overall and picked up awards for Best Stage Setting and the Champagne Award for a Magical Moment of Live Theatre.

Along with the runners up (Off Centre Theatre’s production of Secretarial Skills, 25p Man now goes forward to the quarter final stages of the All England Theatre Festival in April, also to be held at the Market Theatre in Ledbury.

Georgia Gill was thrilled to receive the Best Actress award, saying “this has been a fantastic experience and I am looking forward to competing in the quarter finals”.

Georgia’s own original comedy, Tapley House, which she will also be starring in, will be showing in a number of venues across Herefordshire and neighbouring counties in April and May.
