STUDENTS from Hereford Ballet School had a huge amount of support from family and friends at their Christmas display, award giving and sparkle party on December 9.

The day saw students aged three - 16 perform solos, duets and class dances along with dances performed by the Ballet Associates performance group.

Some students from the Ballet Associates will be entering the Hereford Performing Arts Festival and the Wales and West Cecchetti Ballet Awards in Spring 2018.

Hereford Ballet School regularly raises funds for the Little Princess Trust and the day raised £144 for the trust through a raffle and donations made by the families attending. The raffle winner received a Father Christmas teddy bear, costumed by Judith Techman, a grandmother of one of the school's students and a former pupil herself.

Awards were given to recognise the commitment and hard work the students put in to become outstanding ballet dancers. The 3 Shires Ballet Associate Award was awarded to Elena Rose Boho and the Jocelyn Mather Award to Kristina O'Brien.

The day was also a celebration of the school's excellent examination results. Those that had taken exams were awarded their certificates on the day. Students aged five - 21 took their Cecchetti Classical Ballet exams in the summer. There was a 100% pass rate for the 40 students entered, with 32 of them receiving a Merit or Distinction.
