THE Rotary Foundation Centenary Celebration and Ross Rotary Charter Night Dinner Dance was held at the Chase Hotel on October 20 and was attended by 45 Rotarians and guests.

After an excellent three course meal provided by the Chase Hotel, Ross Rotary president Richard Williams spoke about the philosophy behind Rotary locally, nationally and internationally.

He described the work of Salters Hill, his nominated charity of the year, who provide care, support and opportunities for adults with disabilities and of a new local charity In Their Shoes, a mental health outreach for children.

He went on to talk about upcoming fundraising events which include the Father Christmas Grotto at Labels in December, Ross Beer and Cider Festival at Ross Rowing Club on May Bank Holiday and our Model Railway Exhibition next August.

District Governor Alan Hudson, congratulated Ross Rotary on its 67th birthday and described the work of Rotary Foundation that celebrates its centenary this year. He also provided an update on the Rotary End Polio Now campaign which has seen the eradication of the polio virus in all but two countries worldwide.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by The Forfeits a four piece band fronted by Ed O'Driscoll on vocals, with Chris on guitar, Dave on bass and Jamie on drums. The band were excellent, they played great music and soon had Rotarians and guests dancing the night away. A happy, memorable and fun evening was had by all.
