A MAGICAL performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream has been pulled off by a cast of nine, 10 and 11 year olds.

They were pupils from Michaelchurch Escley Primary School whose stage was the stunning garden terrace at Michaelchurch Court and their dreamy backdrop, a ruined wing.

The apt setting is the home of Janet and John McPherson, who were delighted to share it with the children on the evening of July 18.

One wing of the court was even built in Tudor times, just a few years before the comedy was first performed in 1605.

Parents and friends watched the performance, complete with orchestra, from the lawn.

After, the school's deputy head, Gary Crocker, who directed the play, congratulated the children and all involved in performing the "magical" production.

"How many primary schools can say they have performed Shakespeare somewhere as magical as this? It has been an amazing performance.

"A huge, huge thank you to Janet and John McPherson for their great generosity in allowing us to hold this evening at their beautiful home," he said.
