IN an ongoing new initiative contributing to the local community, prefects of Aylestone High School, have taken it upon themselves to help maintain the local area.
With a shared consideration that we all have the right to enjoy a clean environment, prefects took to the surrounding streets - armed with bin bags and little pickers - on Wednesday in a concerted effort to keep our streets and green spaces beautifully free of unsightly litter and carelessly discarded items.
With a haul of five, bursting from the seams bin bags, items included, rather surprisingly, an Iphone, some shorts and an umbrella.
Passers-by were so impressed, they commented on what a wonderful example the pupils were setting.
Assistant headteacher, Cal Hendry said "We want everyone to enjoy the area. If spending a little of our time doing things such as litter picking helps everyone to feel happy, it's worth it."
