THE Laterisers have excelled themselves this year by raising £8,000 for St Michael's Hospice by holding their annual gathering of members and a charity lunch with an impromptu auction.
The support from members has been overwhelming and the president, James Parker was delighted to hand-over the cheque to Mike Keel, chief executive of St Michael's Hospice at The Green Dragon, Bishops Frome.
The Laterisers were formed in the 1970s and is an exclusive club of 50 male members whose philosophy has always been to raise money for a worthy cause.
There are only a few of the original members in the club but the Laterisers continue to thrive with the "second generation" headed up by the son of the original founder member.
They have been donating monies to various charities but since 1991, St Michael's Hospice has been the main recipient receiving over £60,000.
