THE annual Lionstock event during the last two days of April was a great success raising over £5,000 for charity.

The event attracts people from both sides of the English Welsh border and is held at the Lion, Leintwardine which is owned by Will and Jane Watkins.

This years event was organised and run by Jess Long and her dedicated team of staff at the Lion.

Of the money raised Leintwardine Youth Group will receive £3,200, St Michael's Hospice £1,800 and the churches in the Brampton Bryan area £400.

During the event there was lots of music from bands both local and from further away, lots of different foods and drinks for sale and on the Sunday a bouncy castle for the younger children.

Sunday was also the day for the battle of the bands competition judged by Claire Cornes, Stevie Yeamans and Matt Whitehouse. As usual the judges found that the performances were very hard to choose between but they eventually choose The Regulars as the winners.

Will and Jane Watkins thanked all their staff and helpers during the weekend as well as the local community for allowing them to hold the event, the landowner for car parking and everyone who contributed to making it a great two days for all.
