THIS month, the South Herefordshire Dowsers' public talk featured author and earth mysteries guide, Peter Knight.

Having done archaeology a great service in Dorset by locating lost and unrecorded ancient stones, Peter is now continuing his work on Dartmoor, which he describes as 'the greatest remaining wilderness in southern Britain'.

Dartmoor already boasts thousands of known Stone Age and Bronze Age sites but Peter has been specifically walking the moor and studying the alignment relationships between them and surrounding tor features.

"This is really only what (pioneer dowser) Alfred Watkins was doing in Herefordshire last century" said Peter.

"The difference is that it has become apparent that many previously ignored 'natural' rock features form an integral part of the pattern of man-made sacred sites."

South Herefordshire Dowsers, meanwhile, have produced an introductory pamphlet on basic dowsing tools and methods.
