THE children of Marden Primary Academy chose the whole school topic of Just the Job for Me.

A week of activities was planned for the children and the school had lots of visitors, a majority of whom were parents, who spoke about their jobs.

Miss Newton, the headteacher advertised the position of Headteacher for a Day.

The children applied in writing and then four were short listed for an interview. The interviews were held by Miss Newton and five children, who asked their own questions. After the rigorous selection process Oskaras Rackauskas was chosen to be the successful candidate.

Oskaras took up his position on March 3. He arrived early to speak to the staff and go through his planned activities for the day.

These included classroom observations, giving staff feedback and looking through the children's books.

The day ended with assembly, where the new headteacher gave out the school's usual weekly awards as well as some of his own special certificates.

After a busy day at work, when questioned if he would like to be a headteacher when he grew up, Oskaras didn't want to commit himself.
