LEDBURY Rotarians enjoyed their visit to the Drop In Youth Centre housed in the Barrett Browning Institute Building and Rotary president Martin Perry said how impressed he was with the range of activities available.
Last year Herefordshire Council provided a grant of £10,000 for the Ledbury Youth Activity Support group in the town centre allowing space for young people between the ages of 12-16 years from Ledbury and the surrounding area to get together.
Volunteer Rob Yeoman said that although part of the funding has been used for training and the expertise of other organisations to equip the volunteers and also to equip the centre, the focus is on organising specific activity sessions, determined by the young people themselves, giving them ownership and responsibility.
Rob expressed his gratitude to generous members of the public who had donated furniture, games, IT and other equipment for the young people of the town.
The grant has enabled the group to establish themselves making the Youth Drop In Centre a sustainable vibrant place by the end of the funding period.
