FIFTY people indulged in a 'pudding fest' at a Kington cafe in support of the Breast Cancer Haven in Hereford.

Angie Vaughan from Lyonshall has held various fundraising events over the past eight years since she benefitted from the help, advice and treatments on offer at the Haven. When she planned a pudding evening, proprietors Beccy Haydon and Kathy Thompson at the Border Bean coffee shop where she works, suggested holding it at their premises.

"All the people I work with said they would love to help me," said Angie. "I have had various fundraising events at home to try and pay the Haven back for the kindness they showed me at a very difficult time in my life."

Angie considered holding her latest fundraiser at home, but wasn't sure if she could make enough fancy puddings on her own.

With the help of a couple of friends, 16 different puddings were lined up on the night.

"Fifty people filled the Border Bean, had a glass or two of wine and sampled as many puddings as they fancied," said Angie. "We also had a draw - people were very generous in giving draw prizes and in buying tickets.

"It was a wonderful evening - the atmosphere was brilliant and e everyone said how much they had enjoyed it and when were we holding the next event."

Ticket and raffle sales, and a couple of large donations resulted in Angie raising £1,000 for the Haven.

Thanking all those who came, and those who helped, Angie pointed out: "It just goes to show what can be achieved with a little help from your friends."?
