THE Old Railway Line Garden Centre in Three Cocks, between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, is hosting a charity bingo night and promise auction on February 24 to boost two current community fundraising efforts.

Garden centre owner, Mark Cleary said; "We are really looking forward to our first bingo night next month in support of two local causes. The evening promises to be good fun and will include delicious food in our Railway Restaurant, bingo with over £200 worth of voucher and cash prizes and a promise auction. We have some great auction lots already; including two Wales vs Ireland Six Nations tickets, half day activity session for two at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre, whole fresh butchered lamb, full car valet and half day of handyman work.

"After the success of last year's quiz and curry night and promise auction; when we raised £2842 in aid of Gwernyfed High School's Fighting Fund, we were keen to raise more money for local causes this year. Drew Barker is a brave young man from Talgarth currently fighting a rare and aggressive chordoma tumor. We hope any money raised will support him in the specialist treatment he requires. We will also be supporting Gwernyfed Rugby Clubs efforts to raise £55,000 to purchase their pitches and secure the long-term future of the club.

"Tickets are now on sale for £15 per person including food or £12.50 for tables of four or more which can be purchased next time you visit the garden centre, over the phone or through our website. We hope to see lots of people at the event to give us the best opportunity to as much money as possible for two very worthy causes."
