A BIG crowd attended the Carols Around the Christmas tree last weekend on Brookside Square in Knighton.

The event was organised by the mayor of Knighton Cllr Sally Vaughan with the Friends of Knighton Primary School and helpers.

Father Christmas and his elf Zinnie arriving on their sleigh pulled down Broad Street by Estyn Gough and his tractor decorated with lights for the event.

All the children waiting on the square were given a gift by Santa or his elf.

The Friends of Knighton Primary School served mulled wine, mince pies, drinks and crisps and did a raffle.

Raffle winners included Mercedes Wyles, Jane Bywater, Sarah Hamer, Jackie Vickress, Claire Morris and Carol Powell.

Members off Knighton Town Silver band then provided the music for the carol singing and Mike Conway was the compare for the evening. At the end of the event Mayor Sally thanked everyone for coming including Father Christmas and his elf, the Friends of the school for providing the refreshments, members of the band for the music and Mike Conway for all he did during and before the event.
