PRESTEIGNE area community development group PACDG put on their first Community Groups Fair last weekend in Presteigne Memorial Hall.

At the event there were over 70 different groups, charities, organisations and clubs represented all from Presteigne and the surrounding area.

These included PACDG and Projects community energy, community news and green and clean Presteigne.

Young people's groups, the Brownies, Little Peoples Playgroup and Youth Club.

Community organisations, Chatterbrook WI, East Radnor Day Centre, Knighton and District Rotary Club, Presteigne Library, Royal British Legion and Presteigne and Norton Community Support Project.

Arts, culture and events, Book Club, Poetry in Presteigne, Whitton Voices community choir and Marches Poets.

Services, The Fire Brigade, First Responders, Chamber of Trade the council and Presteigne Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Sports and recreation, The East Radnor Leisure Centre, Bowls and Chess clubs and Whitton Short Mat bowling club.

Religious organisations The Baptist, Methodist and Norton churches, Quakers and St Andrew's church and church choir.

Throughout the event hot and cold refreshments were served by Jean' Café and there was live music from Simon Deeley, George Kirkpatrick and Richard Beasely, Whitton Voices, Bandamania and Tony Lancett.

PACDG chairperson Maggie Taylor-Saunders said "Even the wet weather couldn't dampen the warm sunny atmosphere at our biggest ever Community Groups Fair. The hall was crammed with locals amazed by the number and variety of the groups on show. We had many positive and congratulatory comments, many saying that it really was an event that offered something for everyone. Great encouragement for us to do it again".
