ON October 28 at the Knighton Community Centre, the Knighton and District Rotary Club held a charity fashion show to raise money for the Wales and Midland Air Ambulances as well as Rotary charities.

This was a very well attended event with over 150 enthusiastic people enjoying the experience and the quality of the clothes.

There were good tickets sales both before the event and on the night, and Rotary members were pleased to have the support of the Lady Mayoress of Knighton, Sally Vaughan, who drew the raffle. This raffle was well supported with vouchers and prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. These included the Knighton Hotel, the Red Lion in Knighton, the George and Dragon in Knighton and the Baron in Bucknell.

In addition there were vouchers from Grace Beauty Salon in Presteigne, Elaine's Beauty Spot in Knighton and Bradfords in Knighton.

Rotary president Patrick Smith said "The generosity of these local businesses is very much appreciated, as is that of Colours Charity Fashion Shows who provided the clothes and the models". Patrick added "I must also thank the members of the Rotary Club that donated prizes, sold tickets, laid out the hall and raised their voices when needed, especially when the PA system played up." The event raised nearly £1100 for the Air Ambulances and local charities, and everyone's support on the night was very much appreciated - great result.
