THIRTY Year 6 pupils from nine primary schools are taking part in a competition called Speak Up which will take place at Whitecross High School on November 25.
Recently all the schools came together for the first time, at The Left Bank, and the pupils heard talks on debating from MP Jesse Norman and Big Chill founder, Pete Lawrence. They also had coaching from the debating team at Whitecross High.
Mr Lawrence urged the children to 'treat their imagination with respect,' and he told them to 'treat everything you read in the media with a pinch of salt!'
Jesse Norman said that he felt 'extremely lucky and privileged' to do his job.
Jesse also told them about his debates at the House of Commons and detailed how he had led a successful rebellion against David Cameron, who was 'going down the wrong path.'
