FLUFFY Gizmo from Hereford is one of 20 finalists in the Royal Canin® Rescue Cat of the Year awards, in which the owners of rescue cats can win prizes for their cat – and the rescue centre they came from.

Gizmo and the 19 other finalists were chosen out of over 1,000 entries, and the vote is now over to the public, who can vote via royalcanin.co.uk/rescuecat. If Gizmo wins there's a selection of goodies for her, while Cats Protection, Allensmore, Hereford will receive a month's worth of food for 50 cats. Voting is open now until September 30.

Gizmo's owner Jodie Evans says: "Our gorgeous cat is called Gizmo and she is 16 years old.

"We adopted her from the Cats Protection when she was six. She had been in the shelter twice after being mistreated in her first home and then not getting along with the dog in her second home.

"Third time lucky and she settled in our home straight away - 10 years later and she's still going strong. She enjoys sleeping in the sun in the day and sleeps on our pillows at nights (the old girl sleeps a lot now).

"She never stops purring and she never leaves our sides. We hope she stays with us for a further 10 years and more. We adore her."
