MEMBERS of South Herefordshire Golf Club men's section turned out for this year's captains day, in support of section captain, Allan Haines. The format for the day was a Texas Scramble consisting of teams of three players. Summer had made a welcome return to Herefordshire with the golf course blessed with bright, warm weather through the whole day making for excellent playing conditions.

On the run up to the main event, members also held a prize draw in aid of Allan's chosen charity for 2016, the County Air Ambulance, and raised £280 in the process which will be added to the end of year total.

Results for the day were very close with only 0.3 points separating 1st and 2nd place. In second place, with a final score of 63.2 were Gerry Newman, Simon Sharpe and Tony Horton. 1st place with 62.9 points fittingly went to the captain's team headed by Allan Haines with Tim Beale and Martin Latham. Other prizes on the day were for nearest the pin on three different holes picked up by Keith Bullock (7th), Julian Blewitt (14th) and Paul Middleton (17th) and also nearest the pin in two (18th) which was won by Will Jones.
