DORSTONE is just the place to be if you want volunteers to help you.
Last autumn, volunteers from the Golden Valley Young Farmers' Club took huge amounts of ivy off the churchyard wall.
Their hard work revealed some collapsing sections which have recently been re-built by a group of new volunteers, under the supervision of expert dry-stone-waller Dave Marpole from Shropshire.
His services were generously funded by Caring for God's Acre - a conservation charity. It was done as part of their National Project, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This was one of over 30 courses that they have organised across England and Wales.
Churchwarden Penny Platts commented: "Our 'wallers' were really proud of the results of their day's hard labour, and the wall looks splendid.
"Several of them intend to use their newly-learned skills to complete projects in their own gardens, so an ancient craft lives on."
