ON July 8 Dancefest's Gold Star brought together over 150 Herefordshire children to share dance inspired by stamping out our carbon footprint and giving the world a big hug through dance!

The sun shone down on Earl Mortimer College, Leominster as schools including Stoke Prior, Shobdon Primary School, Westfield School and Dancefest's Dancemakers and Elevate Youth Dance companies danced for bustling audiences around the outdoor spaces lead by Dancefest's Dancemakers group.

Janene Wyatt, Dancefest's dance development leader for children and co-ordinator of Gold Star said "I have had the pleasure of teaching dance in Herefordshire schools for over 15 years and Gold Star is fundamentally about giving those creative schools and creative children a big pat on the back and a thank you - a thank you for valuing creativity as part of the school day and encouraging and teaching children to be creative and confident performers. This gives Gold Star a real buzz and is a day to remember for the performers, the teachers and the audience".

Dancefest lead a regular programme of dance classes for children, young people and adults at the Courtyard theatre on Tuesdays. Dancefest are also holding auditions for our Youth Dance Companies (age 10-18) on September 12.
