THIRTEEN gardens proved to be a lucky number for this particular open garden day in Presteigne and surrounding area, as the weather was fine and sunny, unlike the previous days during which the area had been beset with pouring rain.
The day raised over £2,650 for St Michael's Hospice thanks to the generosity of those attending, in ticket sales, plant and books sales and tea and cakes.
The gardens included large and small, formal and wild, town and country gardens, showing a wide variety of horticultural possibilities.
Paddy Nugent, community fundraising manager for St Michael's Hospice thanked all the gardeners for all their hard work and for helping to raise so much money for the hospice.
