RHOS Market Garden and Hill Cottage Retreat Centre near Knighton opened their gardens to raise money for St Michael's Hospice recently.
Visitors were welcomed by Alice Tite and Mick Westrip from Rhos Market Garden and Zarine Katrak and Jeremy Bruce from Hill Cottage Retreats. Rhos Market Garden grows and sells organic vegetables, fruit and flowers to the local community. The family run garden was established in 2008 and now consists of six acres, three polytunnels, purpose built packing shed and eco house.
Hill Cottage Retreat offers a tranquil place where individuals can reflect, be creative and interact with others. Set in ten acres, of young orchards and woodland, natural swimming pond, spaces for contemplation and wildflower meadow bordered by a meandering brook. The cottage was a derelict stone dwelling that was brought back to life in the 1980s and the retreat centre was opened in 2012. Although it is not yet known how much was raised for the hospice it is well over £200.
