OVER the weekend of the Queen's official birthday, Allensmore held a royal ramble and tea party at Home Farm, by kind invitation of Jim and Val Lawrence.
Dressed in red, white and blue, 29 walkers took to the footpaths of Allensmore, crossing the railway line and heading towards Haywood, returning via the lake and past the sheep. As the ramblers passed the Second World War ammunition stores and the site of Allensmore Court, history was passed on to the younger generation.
Two marquees had been erected to keep off the rain, but they worked well to keep the food out of the sunlight.
On the return to Home Farm, non-walkers joined in the celebration of Her Majesty's 90th birthday and arrived for the tea party.
Tables were laden with food and everyone was encouraged to eat of the wonderful spread.
Rev Hilary Morgan, resplendent in union jack waistcoat proposed a toast to the Queen.
