FOR the first time Knighton has a Scout Group. Up until recently there has been Beavers and Cub Scouts but no Scout group meaning older children have not been able to stay after reaching the age of 10 and a half. On May 13 a new Scout group was officially opened by regional commissioner for Powys Adrian Austin. Four boys Harvey Priday, Charlie Cornes, William Thomas and Henry Morris were moved up from the cubs to the new group and presented with a certificate and badges, next week more will be joining them. Adrian said "It is a real pleasure for me to see the setting up of a new Scout group. Scouts are an important part of the community and they can thrive with a community". He then said to the parents and children "If you want to keep your Scout group please support the group helping out when ever you can". He then welcomed the new scouts telling them "you will be given much more responsibility and be asked to make your own decisions and will be able to do lots more exciting things". On the same evening Jimmy Cornes, Owen Waddington, Freya Davies, Nathanial Parfitt Lunn and Archie Roberts were presented with certificates, badges and woggles and moved up from Beavers to the Cubs and new Beavers Ross Gurney, Alex Hewins and Alfie Bennett were welcomed and presented with certificates and badges.
