HOPE Support Services is hosting its first ever football tournament at Hereford Academy on June 4, complete with winning prize fund of £140.

Whether you fancy yourself as the next Messi or just love having a kickabout, all teams of six plus an optional sub are welcome.

For those not quite so interested in the game, a family fun day will be running alongside complete with stalls, live music, bouncy castle, hot food and lots of games.

Hereford Academy Level 3 BTEC Sports students are helping to organise the day to raise funds for Hope, which supports young people when a close family member is diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

"We are very excited for this to be a community event promoting sport at our local sports science academy," said student Harry Endacott. "It's a great opportunity to put all the theory we have covered on the course into practise."

Hereford FC's United in the Community Football and Education students will also bring their speed cage, for those looking for an extra challenge.

"United in the Community Football Education students are more than willing to support the great cause of the Hope Support Services," added site leader Adam Jones. "Helping run events like these allows the learners to develop some really important life skills."

The event will run from 10am - 3pm. Entering a team costs £30 per team (must be booked in advance), whilst fun day entrance is free. For more information or to register your team (16+ only) visit hopesupport.org.uk/events or ring 01989 566317.
