CHILDREN from Whitchurch CE Primary have triumphed again in the county chess championship.
The outstanding school has an excellent reputation for making sure that children have a broad range of activities to choose from and chess is a very important one of those.
Coached by one of their experienced teachers, Mr Colin Mutton, the team has gone from strength to strength over the last few years.
This year several children qualified for the regional final of a national chess competition.
Four children qualified for the national Giga Final, to be held in Manchester this summer, with three of these champions within their own age group at the Mega Final. Staff were quick to congratulate everyone who took part and represented the school so well. As one child said, 'I love our chess club, it's challenging. Whitchurch is amazing.'
