MONEY for life training has been offered to the Home-Start home-visiting volunteers.

The programme aims to improve the knowledge, confidence and skills of the families they support in the community and then helps the families manage their money better.

The first course was run at the charity's Rotherwas offices this week was very successful.

Mandie Preece scheme manager said "In cases where finance has been a big problem to a family, The money for life programme has provided us with the relevant and appropriate tools to use with volunteers to help make money management a daily/weekly activity for those families."

Almost a third of adults think it's inappropriate to include their children in general discussions about money, a family charity has found.

The Home-Start charity found that 31% of mums and dads don't discuss the family finances with their children, despite the fact that more than a quarter of kids (28%) said they think about money a lot, while three-quarters (75%) said they should be involved in family discussions about what to spend their money on.

"It is vital that adults have the skill and confidence to manage their finances effectively."
