HEREFORD Sixth Form College principal, Jonathan Godfrey, attended the Commandant's Parade in April at the personal invitation of the Commandant, Major General Paul Nanson CBE.

This singular honour was a result of more ex-students of the college over the last three years having entered the Royal Military Academy and thence being commissioned into the British Army than any other sixth form college in England and the second highest number of all maintained schools nationally.

Major General Nanson said, "This invitation was sent to only our top independent and state schools nationally who send most pupils to the academy and it is a pleasure to mark their achievement."

Following the Passing Out Parade, Dr Godfrey had lunch with ex-students currently at the academy - Peter Blood, Steven Head, Anna Mulderrig, Matt Smith and Stephen Smith.

Dr Godfrey said, "It was a privilege to attend the parade and a great pleasure to meet our ex-students who spoke warmly of their time at college and with great enthusiasm about their Sandhurst training. Peter, Matt and Anna, who has also coached netball at college before going to the academy, all receive their commissions this month and we wish them every success in their army careers."
