DURING the months of April and May the people of Llandrindod Wells will have an extra spring in their step as locally based dance development agency, Powys Dance, launches a project to get the whole town dancing.

Called Llandrindance the project has several strands including sessions at Cefnllys School and Ysgol Trefonnen and Let's Llandrindance events for families to dance together. The project culminates in a celebration of dance and the people of Llandrindod called May We (Llandrin)dance? at Powys Dance's hub, the Dance Centre on May 15.

Powys Dance's director, Amanda Griffkin, said; "Since successfully completing our transformation into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in August 2015, we have wanted to develop a community project with the people of Llandrindod Wells, the home of Powys Dance."

The whole community is invited to take part via 20 days of Llandrindance. Powys Dance is encouraging organisations and individuals to submit a video of themselves dancing, whether it's a 20 second dance in your kitchen with your toddler or a choreographed routine between you and your friends to your favourite tune. Powys Dance has also created a short dance routine called, The Llandrindance which is available for people to learn and submit their version of as another option to get involved, simply search for The Llandrindance on YouTube to learn the routine or email llandrindance@dawnspowysdance.org to request a tutorial pack for you or your organisation. All information can be found on their website dawnspowysdance.org or by calling 01597 824370.

Lead project artist Jemma Louise said, "Many of our participants often comment about dance videos they have seen on YouTube and beyond, and we wanted to encourage our community to have a go themselves. Hopefully this will see dancing in unusual places in and around Llandrindod."
