ELIAN Owen from Knighton who is in his third year at the University of South Wales in Newport studying film and video wrote a short film as part of his studies and chose Knighton to get it produced with Josh Hopkin who also directed the film. The film tells the story of how a young Welsh man fell out with his step dad and ran away to London where he spent time with a group of punk squatters in the early 1980s.

Local bed and breakfasts and guest houses were busy with about 20 youngsters staying in the town. The film was done very professionally by Elian and his team using specialist camera equipment, make-up artists, costume and set designers as well as actors. Many local people were also involved in the film including Elian's father, Tim who played the part of a very agitated step dad, David Beech played a mechanic, Fiona Collins a landlady and Tom Gibbs and Connor Birch had cameo roles as punks. Ben Middleton from Knighton was the sound operator.

Filming took place at The Roundhouse in Knighton by kind permission of Connor Birch, the home of Jane and Paul Milward, Knighton Train station, Owen's Motors bus depot and many of the roads in the area. Classic cars were loaned to them by John Cadwallader and Dave Fowler. Margaret Davies, Jane Corley Owen and The Horse and Jockey did the catering and transport was provided by Owen's Motors.

When the film is finished it will be entered into film festival competitions and it is hoped that it will be shown to the people of Knighton at a later date.
