TEME Spirits production The Story of My Life took to the stage last weekend and told the story of Burt Bacharach's life.

Musical director Katie Mohamed and producer Carol Pigram first started working on this show back in the summer and were unaware that the Burt Bacharach's show Close to You was opening in London in the autumn. The two had researched the web, books and newspapers for a lot of the details, then once the show was in the news a whole lot more information came their way via television interviews and shows dedicated to him and his music.

At the age of 87 Bacharach's career is by no means over. The Teme Spirits production starts in 1928 the year of his birth and covered many of the most famous compositions as well as other songs which were popular in his lifetime. The show also attempted to tell the story of his life albeit just a fraction of it. Songs performed during the show included The Story of My Life, Magic Moments, Three Wheels On My Wagon, Always Something There To Remind Me, The look of Love, What's new Pussycat, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do) and Trains Boats and Planes. Cast members portrayed famous singers including Dionne Warwick, Sandy Shaw, Marlene Dietrich, Dusty Springfield and Gene Pitney.

The cast was made up of Janet Beech, John Beaumont, Lisa Bradbury, Emrys Breeze, Nadia Bull, Arron Chibnell-Smith, Fiona Collins, Arlette Cox-Harmsworth, Abi Durant, Tracie Durant, Maureen Emmins, Roger Emmins, Linda Hawkes, Chloe Lewis, Ann Lloyd, Mary Lomax, Tom Mosler, Jo Pardoe-Bouchard, Suzy Pardoe-Bouchard, Nicole Pritchard, Ian Sharp, Sandra Sharp, Rose Whitefoot, Brenda Woods, Colin Woods, and Helen Wyles.
