HEREFORD Lions Club has launched a scheme to buy life saving defibrillators, costing £1000 each for use in public places or venues around the city. Club president Colin Smith presented one of the first to Lyndsey Evans and John Newman at Belmont Community Centre. One has also been donated to Riverside School, Hunderton and the club is seeking a suitable outdoor site for one of the machines to be located in the city centre.

Said Colin Smith "After a cardiac arrest every minute without CPR reduces the chances of survival by 10% so the more readily available defibrillators are the better the chances are of an individual surviving."

The life saving project is just one of the Lions Club's schemes to support the local community.
