ALWAYS an eagerly awaited social event on the calendar of Vaga Probus Club, their New Year lunch provides members with the opportunity for their ladies to be involved and suitably entertained.

Albeit falling on the coldest day experienced so far in 2016, there was the added outside benefit of nature's 'winter wonderland' backdrop for an 80 strong attendance to appreciate and value as they dined in comfort inside at the excellent Penyard Suite at Penyard House in Weston-under Penyard.

Club president, Rod Barker spoke for everyone in thanking club social secretary Paul Mason for his first-class organisation and thoughtful administration of the day. Vaga members have been fortunate that the club's social well-being has been in Paul's care for several years and his 2016 social programme is being looked forward to.

In addition, regular club meetings structured around the 2nd and 4th Tuesday mornings of each month are held at the Ross Conservative Club when members are treated to a varied selection of speakers and meaningful presentations with Herbie Renfield commencing his first year as speakers secretary. The combined effectiveness of the Vaga package is probably reflected in the impressive growth of club membership in recent years reaching unprecedented levels and currently numbering 56 active members.
