ON January 10, The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, located in Three Cocks between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, was crowned with the The Greatest Christmas Display Team award in the UK as part of the annual Garden Trade News' greatest awards.

As none of The Old Railway Line team could make the trip to Harrogate, rock star and regular customer, Rev Dr Clive Jackson accepted the award on their behalf. Doctor and the Medics, best known for their number one hit Spirit in the Sky in 1986, were the headline act of the awards evening.

Garden Trade News's MD, Trevor Pfeifer said; "The Greatest Christmas Awards prove once again that garden centre employees truly do work together to get the best results for their garden centre - they are thinking of Christmas 24/7.

"They're planning for Christmas - including the events, displays, grottos and food happens all year round, across all departments."

Garden centre owner, Mark Cleary said; "We are delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious, national award, in the mid-sized centre category, to give our hardworking staff the recognition they deserve. We are very happy with the positive reaction from customers and award judges this year which makes all of the hard work worth it."
