HOPE Stoney from Hay-on-Wye, a pupil at Moor Park School in Ludlow, is the best speech and drama student in the UK.

Thirteen year old Hope, who is also the head girl at Moor Park, achieved the highest distinction mark in the country in her Grade 3 Speech and Drama exam, dropping only five marks along the way.

In recognition of her achievement, Hope received a trophy and the Peggy Law Certificate of Excellence from examining body, the New Era Academy.

New headmaster Charlie Minogue said: “This is quite some doing. Thousands of children across the country sit these exams, so to come out on top is terrific and wonderful testimony not only to the hard work and talent of Hope but also our head of drama, Bev Jenkins, who is such an enthusiast. I am absolutely delighted for both of them.”

Bev Jenkins added: “I am thrilled for Hope. She is a really talented and lovely girl who I am sure will go far.”
