ON June 6 terminal kidney cancer patient Jon Birchall set off on his motorbike to ride over 6,000 miles around the coast of mainland Britain to show the world he will not be beaten and that he is ‘Facing Up 2 Kidney Cancer’.

Jon is riding in aid of the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer, and on September 19 there was a coffee morning organised by St Mary's Church Staunton at Staunton Village Hall in aid of the charity.

The lovely weather saw dozens of people support the coffee morning, with a great showing of motorbikes. A fantastic total of £522.81 was raised from the various stalls, the raffle, teas, coffees and bacon rolls. A great result for a great cause.

Organisers would like to say a big thank you to all who came, all who helped and special thanks for generous support from Tesco, Sun Valley Foods and The Lunchbox. They would also like to wish Jon all the best for the final stage of the ride ending in London.
