TONY Smith, the incoming president of Leominster Rotary Club, received his chain of office at the handover ceremony recently. This important event in the Rotary calendar took place at Leominster Golf Club and was enjoyed by about 20 members and guests. The outgoing president, Geoffrey Crofts, gave a summary of the past year where Rotary have supported a variety of local and national organisations, including Westfield School and Macmillan Cancer Support, before handing over his chain of office to Tony.

Looking ahead to his year of office, Tony set out plans to ensure that local charities continue to be well supported whilst also supporting major needs such as the Nepal earthquake appeal. Tony is also looking to increase membership of the club in order to ensure that the excellent work is carried out in years to come.

The club meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at Leominster Golf Club (6pm for 6.30pm) and potential members are always welcome. The membership officer is Geoffrey Crofts and he can be contacted on 01568 615706 or email rotaryclubofleominster@hotmail.co.uk
