ALL the pupils, staff, members of the PTA and some parents of Radnor Valley Primary School as well as playgroup staff and children took part in the bi-annual sponsored Whimble challenge walk on July 3. The event organised by the school's PTA started from the school covered a distance of two miles for the youngest children, then there were distances of three miles, four and half and over six miles depending on the children's ages. Volunteers manned several check points along the route providing the children with drinks. The youngest children walked up to near the base of Radnor Forrest and then back to the school. The older ones walked into Radnor Forrest did a loop around the back of Whimble climbing 1,617 foot above sea level before sitting on the top of the hill for their lunch and then returned to school. The total walk for them was 6.7 miles and it took them four hours and twelve minutes. Whimble Hill is a popular local walking destination that overlooks the village of New Radnor.

The event raise over £1,000, the money will be used to help buy outdoor equipment for the school including an educational trail.
