THE Presteigne Ladies Hockey Club recently held their end of season dinner at the Radnorshire Arms in Presteigne. The evening was to celebrate a successful season. Presteigne played in Premier Two of the south Wales league for the first time. Presteigne held their own and live to fight another season at this top level finishing in the middle of the table. Presteigne also won the local Sunday Marches League. The evening was an opportunity to give out the club awards which were as follows, junior player of the season went to Sian Bull and most improved junior player went to Emily Tyler. The Joan Davies Memorial Cup and players play of the season went to Sian Bull along with most improved play also to Sian Bull, so taking her tally to four in total. The clubs team member of the season went to Tina Sparey and veteran player went to Lesley Phillips. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Geraint Whiffen for umpiring this season and putting off his retirement for one year. The club is in need of umpiring assistance next season if anyone is interested. They would also like to thank everyone who has supported them throughout the season in any way.
