ACROSS the bank holiday weekend, over 300 medieval re-enactors of the group Historia Normannis came together at Whittington Castle in Shropshire for the annual show opening event. This year was the second year that the Hereford Cell Group were involved. The castle was sent back to the 12th century and followed a dispute between two brothers. The dispute escalated and became a full on war. The Hereford group were part of the many re-enactors who took part in the final battle over the three day event. Outside of the battle the living history was displayed with many crafts, cookery and leisure activities taking place. With a blacksmith, woodworker, leather-worker and drapers amongst the Hereford group the living history was very active. The event was a great success and the Hereford group are looking forward to taking part in many more events across the year. The Hereford Group trains every Sunday (weather permitting) on the Bishop Meadows and anyone is welcome to come along and give medieval combat a go.
