A SMALL team of dedicated enthusiasts led by 15-year old Charlie Wood, staged the Annual Vintage Gathering and Crank Up in the rural village of Bromsberrow, near Ledbury.

This event involves all vintage and classic vehicles or machinery meeting up once a year at Bromesberrow Village Hall. Visitors to last years show enjoyed warm sunny weather but sadly this year were met with wind and rain.

However the inclement weather did nothing to dampen the eager exhibitors and crowds, who enjoyed the company of 21 tractors, some with period implements, three stationary engines, two classic motorcycles and three other vehicles.

The tractors varied in age and size from a late 1940s Ferguson TE 20 to a one week old modern John Deere. Other vehicles included a very nice VW Camper, Army FWC Land Rover and Rover SD1 Vitesse.

Exhibitors travelled mainly from the local villages of Bromsberrow Heath, Redmarley, Ryton and Staunton. Very hardy enthusiasts drove two of the vehicles from Hereford and Kilcot. Others transported large vintage tractors from the Forest of Dean. Refreshments were served inside the hall, where there was the opportunity to enjoy the extensive farm model displays. More than £350 was raised towards the village hall funds from the raffle ticket sales and refreshments. The show had originally been organised to raise funds for Cancer Research UK when Charlie's grandmother contracted the disease and died, and in subsequent years the idea has grown to now become a fixture in the Village Calendar. Charlie commented; "This is such an enjoyable event for the whole family and we want to say a huge 'Thank you' to everyone who supported it and we hope to announce the date for the 2016 edition soon."
