LAST week a local garden centre raised £1571.24 for Greenfingers during the national fundraising day, Garden Re-Leaf. Each year garden centres across the UK unite to raise funds for the worthy charity which builds beautiful gardens in children's hospices nationally.

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, located between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, hosted fundraising days and a quiz and curry night.

Garden Centre owner, Mark Cleary said "Every year we take part in Garden Re-Leaf and we enjoy supporting the charity Greenfingers and the fantastic work they do. We would like to thank the 120 people who attended the quiz and curry night and the hundreds of people who took part in our fundraising efforts over the weekend. We have raised an amazing total again this year which will contribute to new gardens in children's hospices across the UK. We hope these gardens will have a positive effect on children and adults visiting the hospices at a difficult time in their lives."
