LEOMINSTER Museum launched its 2015 summer season of opening with music and dancing on Easter Saturday.
At 11am, both of Leominster’s Morris dancing sides – Leominster Morris and Jenny Pipes Morris – joined museum volunteers and other visitors in Etnam Street, as Brigadier Peter Jones, Leominster’s Mayor, declared the season open.
Coffee and hot cross buns were served, as both sides danced in friendly rivalry on the pavement outside the museum.
Both sides have lent costumes, objects, photographs, and albums from their archive for the museum’s first temporary exhibition this year.
Running until June 30, the exhibition, called Here Be Dragons, traces the history of Morris dancing and mumming in Leominster.
The museum is open from 10am - 4pm from Monday to Friday, and 10am - 1pm on Saturdays.
