Fownhope

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN EXHIBITION – Our second exhibition drew some 199 visitors, not quite as many as the record numbers for the September event, but still more than a quarter of Fownhope’s adult population.

This compares very favourably with numbers in other villages around the country. The results of the Resident Survey were on display together with suggestions for policies for the first draft of the plan, and information on each of the possible housing sites. There was strong support for the revised Vision for Fownhope in 2031, and for the broad thrust of the first draft of policies on issues such as telecommunications, energy and carbon reduction, access to the countryside, protection of green spaces, community assets, village services and many more.

Proposals for making Common Hill an area of special character were strongly supported, as was the idea of a Fownhope Community Trust, and policies to protect the conservation area and listed buildings, and avoid developments within or close to areas at risk of flood.

The next stage is for the steering group to take on board comments and produce the draft Fownhope Plan, which will be published on or about May 11.

There will be a formal six week period for written comments from residents and organisations running till June 22.
