QUEUES formed outside the library in Ledbury recently with people wanting to use the new facility now located in the Master's House, commencing a new chapter in the life of the much loved library. The last minute tweaking and preparations were in place and there was a real buzz of excitement from staff and visitors alike. Area manager Margaret Coldman tested the self-service machine with which customers can use their existing library cards to check in their books, and return them simply by using the bar codes.

Librarian Steve Jones and IT expert Joe Disson ensured all the public access computer checks were done to IT and other user equipment. The interior looked simply stunning, with user-friendly lighting and signage, and a sympathetically engineered juxtaposition between historic building and brand new library facilities. In a separate office, the Community Action Ledbury Team were hard at work in their new space, and the John Masefied Society busily completing the display in a specially made cabinet.

The new opening hours at the new library will be: Monday: 9.30am to 4.30pm; Tuesday, 10am to 6pm; Wednesday, closed; Thursday, 9.30am to 4.30pm; Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday, 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The date for the official opening is expected to take place shortly.
