THE Rhos Market Garden and Precious Earth have joined together to turn an old garage into a shop. The shop opened in the old Vaughan's Garage in West Street, Knighton that has been unused for several years. The shop aims to sell organic fruit and vegetables and interior low energy lighting, paints, natural building materials flooring insulation and much more.

Rhos Market garden was established in 2008 and is run by Mick Westrip and Alice Tite who are based a couple of miles from Knighton at their Rhos market garden where they have six areas of land and several poly tunnels and grow lots of their own produce. The couple have been selling their produce at street markets in Knighton and Presteigne for several years and at the Knighton Community Market but this is the first time they have had a shop.

Paul and Anne Williams have been running their business Precious Earth from a small shop in Station Road, Knighton for about five years and specialise in stocking and supplying earth-friendly products and building materials as well as full design services. Whenever possible, they source materials and products from local suppliers. They also actively seek out products that are manufactured, reclaimed or recycled with a view to minimising the impact on the environment. There is a wide variety of natural and sustainable products available; these include cabinetry, wood flooring, wool carpets, true linoleum, cork, recycled glass, paints, stains, certified timber and more.

The new shop will be open from 9am till 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday with half day closing on a Wednesday afternoon.
