THE Country Park Supporters volunteer group based at Newton Farm Belmont are celebrating the installation of a secure store to house their park maintenance equipment.

Thanks to a substantial grant from Hereford City Council a secure store has been erected in Belmont Haywood Country Park so that equipment can be safely housed and access to it by volunteers easily achieved.

Foundations for the store were laid by EC Joseph and Sons free of charge for which the CPS group is extremely grateful.

CPS volunteers hope to complement and extend any parks maintenance work carried out by Herefordshire Council or its contractors, Balfour Beatty Living Places.

CPS Chairman, Phil Edwards commented, "We are very grateful to Hereford City Council for the installation of this secure store which will help keep our equipment safe. It also means that trained volunteers can access equipment when they are able to, and when conditions are right, rather than things like mowing and strimming being done on set dates."

In addition to parks maintenance the CPS is also hoping to highlight specific areas of interest in the park and encourage learning about the local flora and fauna, as well as encouraging using the park to enhance health and well-being through walking, cycling and playing in open spaces.
